A friendly and caring person is required for a live-in position at Temple Lodge Club, a welcoming and personal guest house in Hammersmith, London.

About the Role
This is a varied, live-in role combining guest hospitality, reception responsibilities, and light house caretaking within a friendly and welcoming environment.
You will become part of a small, supportive team and play a key role in maintaining the peaceful atmosphere that defines the house. The role blends practical daily tasks with a steady sense of responsibility for the well-being of guests and the smooth running of the property.

Working Pattern & Rhythm of the Week
Approx. 31.5 hours per week on a flexible rota:
- Breakfast shift (7:00 – 12:30): Active, guest-facing, hands-on
- Reception shift (12:00 – 17:00): Administrative and guest support
- Occasional evening shifts (17:00 – 21:00): Light duties, guest assistance, presence
The role has a natural daily rhythm in solo working capacity:
- Morning: busy, social, service-focused
- Midday: structured, organised, guest communication
- Evening: quiet, watchful, security awareness
Detailed Responsibilities
Reception & Guest Care
- Managing bookings via email and telephone
- Processing payments and maintaining accurate records
- Welcoming arrivals and supporting departures
- Preparing meeting rooms for use
- Acting as a consistent, reassuring point of contact for guests
- Handling queries with warmth and professionalism
Meeting Rooms & Event Preparation
- Setting up meeting rooms according to booking requirements (layout, seating, tables)
- Preparing the space in advance of events to ensure a polished, professional environment
- Checking cleanliness, presentation, lighting, and ventilation
- Ensuring basic equipment and refreshments are ready where required
- Resetting rooms after use, maintaining order and readiness for the next booking
- Liaising with guests to ensure their requirements are met smoothly and quietly
Breakfast Service (up to 25 guests)
- Preparing and presenting the breakfast buffet to a high standard
- Creating a calm and pleasant dining atmosphere
- Serving tea, coffee, and simple breakfast items
- Monitoring stock levels and replenishing food
- Clearing, washing, and resetting dining areas
- Maintaining cleanliness of kitchen and public spaces
House Caretaking & Presence
- Maintaining awareness of the house, especially in quieter hours
- Ensuring entrances, shared areas, and gardens remain orderly and secure
- Being present on site during evenings and overnight
- Noticing and addressing small issues before they become problems
- Supporting a sense of safety and continuity within the house
- Ensuring the garden grounds are neat and tidy and taking on garden tasks when needed
Note: This is not a security role, but rather one of attentive care and presence.
Live-in Arrangement & Expectations
Accommodation is provided as part of the role, and with it comes shared responsibility for the tone and well-being of the house.
Key expectations:
- A peaceful lifestyle within the house is expected at all times
- Overnight presence is required as part of the role, and advance notice must be given if you need to be away overnight
- During any absence, it is expected that a responsible person occupies your room
- Weekend afternoons: you are expected to be present in the house (for emergency awareness only, not active work). Absence cover for those afternoons needs to be arranged in advance
